Looking for affordable Toowoomba wedding catering? Planning a wedding can be an exciting and memorable experience, but it can also be an expensive one. Between the venue, dress, and decorations, the costs can quickly add up. One of the biggest expenses for many weddings is catering.
Wedding catering in Toowoomba can be especially pricey, with the average cost per person ranging from $50 to $150 or more. However, there are ways to reduce your catering bill without sacrificing quality or taste.
In this article, we’ll explore some tips and tricks for cutting costs on your Toowoomba wedding catering while still delivering a delicious and unforgettable culinary experience for you and your guests. Whether you’re on a tight budget or simply looking to be more mindful of your spending, these ideas will help you save money without sacrificing the quality of your wedding catering. So let’s get started!
Step 1. Have less onsite service staff
Depending on your family and your aim for the day, you might opt to have no onsite service.
This means your reception will be super private and incredible intimate. The trade off is that your family and friends might have to pitch in. You should definitely go with disposable plates (nope not the old school picnic ones, there are fancy bamboo leaf ones out there) and have your reception food either as cold options (and in the cold room you are sure to hire!) or delivered just before you need it, so it is pipping hot.
Side note: I adore picnic wedding receptions and we don’t do them nearly enough! They are a cold option that doesn’t require on-site service!
Step 2: If you must have staff, consider a stand up reception cocktail hour
Bring on the canapés, the cocktail party vibes and the ability to move easily around your family and friends. Actually talking to them (rather than looking at them for three hours while you have a sit down dinner). It is also incredibly fun to bring in a bartender or two to mix a specialty cocktail.
This year we introduced three cocktail and canapé party packages (with onsite service staff)!
They are called Grazing Boards, Glitter and Gold with a price range from $18.50 to $30 per person for onsite service between 1 and 1.5 hours with BYO drinks.
Step 3: The afterparty of your wedding reception
Another amazing idea is rather than have those service staff stay all night slowly but surely becoming more and more expensive, have a supper after your canapé hour. This is a very old concept.
Ceremony to canapé hour to dancing to supper (aka after party).
And yes, we do those too!
Basically, the wonderful staff layout the supper just before they depart after the canapé hour. And from then on you self-serve!
COLD GRAZING SUPPER / 2 cold cuts / deli rolls / 2 gourmet salads / chutney / $15 per person
HOT GRAZING SUPPER / 2 hot dishes / 2 sides / rolls / butter / equipment hire included / $20 per person
KITCHEN CAKE CUTTING / cake not supplied / cut & plated / $1 per person
So for between $18.50 and $55 per person, you could have your very own, intimate, easy wedding reception with some onsite staff. Honestly, it would cost more to take my parents out to dinner!
